Crossroads 2010: Call for Session Proposals

Dear colleagues,

The 8th Crossroads Conference in Cultural Studies will be hosted by the Department of Cultural Studies jointly with Kwan Fong Cultural Research & Development Programme of Lingnan University in HONG KONG during June 17 -21, 2010. This year we are very pleased to have invited the following keynote and plenary speakers:

As always, we are open to all innovative topics in Cultural Studies. There is certainly no boundary of your scholarly thinking; however, we do have some suggested topics listed in the section Topic Suggestions in the conference website as food for thoughts. Please also refer to the section on Panels and Proposals in the conference website for the submission guidelines.

The exact dates of the conference have been decided: The Crossroads in Cultural Studies Conference 2010 will be held at Lingnan University June 17 – 21, 2010

ACS General Meeting in Kingston

Invitation to all members of the Association for Cultural Studies

ACS General Meeting in Kingston
Sunday 6 July 2008 16:15-18:00

On Sunday 6 July, all ACS members are welcome to participate in a general meeting held during the Crossroads in Cultural Studies Conference at the University of the West Indies in
Kingston, Jamaica. The meeting takes place in the Social Science Lecture Theatre (SSLT) from 16:15 to 18:00 local time.

This ACS General Meeting consists of three main sections:

16:15 Opening speech by Meaghan Morris, Chair of the Association.

16:40 General Assembly, as described in the ACS Rules:

  1. Opening of the Assembly.
  2. The election of the Chair of the Assembly, the recording secretary, two scrutinizers of the minutes and two counters of votes.
  3. Notification that the Assembly is valid and constitutes a quorum.
  4. Accepting the agenda of the Assembly.
  5. The Assembly is presented the accounts, the Board’s annual report (available for members on the Intranet) and the auditors’ report.
  6. The Assembly decides about confirming the account and giving discharge from liability to the Board and to others in charge.
  7. The election of the Chair, Vice-Chair and other members of the Board.
  8. The election of one or two auditors and their vice persons.
  9. End of the Assembly.

17:20 Report on Crossroads conferences and other organisational issues, followed by an open discussion of future tasks and activities of the ACS.

18:00 End of meeting.
