How To Participate in "CROSSROADS IN CULTURAL STUDIES"

You can participate in this conference as:

A Session Organiser, A Paper Presenter or Discussant Or simply as an Attendee.

Deadline for submitting session proposals or individual abstracts is over for this conference. But you are still welcome to participate as an Attendee by filling in the registration form and paying the registration fee.

Session Organisers

A Standard Session lasts 1 hour 45 minutes and will allow for 5 presentations to be made. Sessions can be organised around the suggested conference topics or on another topic of your choice.

If you wish to organise a session at the 4th Crossroads Conference you can either:

Send a 150-word description of your session to the Crossroads Conference Office. We will encourage participants to contribute papers to your session, by posting your proposal on the Crossroads website and by including it in our monthly listing of new sessions, which is emailed to the entire database. The deadline for submission of session proposals is 31 January 2002. Attract 5 presentations from within your own circle of colleagues and send a description of your session and a listing of all presentations to the Conference Office. Please note that all Session descriptions and listings are due in the conference office by 18 February 2002. We would like to encourage all session organisers to leave the opportunity for all scholars to submit papers to their sessions.

Further information for Session Organisers can be found in the Session Organiser's Manual. Session Organisers will also receive regular mailshots from the conference office with further guidelines.

Paper Presenters

In this Invitation Programme you will find more than 100 sessions which will be organised during the 4th Crossroads Conference. Please keep an eye on our website where additional sessions will be posted and flagged throughout the next months.

To submit a paper to a session, please send an abstract of maximum 150 words to the Session Organiser. Please note that no second copy should be sent to the Conference Office; only the Session Organiser decides whether or not to accept your paper. The deadline for the submission of papers is 31 January 2002.

Session organisers have been requested to confirm acceptance of papers no later than the end of February. Please note that to avoid no-shows and guarantee the quality of all sessions, we ask paper presenters to register before 30 April 2002.

Individual Papers

The Conference Office discourages the submission of individual papers, i.e. papers not submitted to a specific session. If you feel that none of the listed sessions is appropriate, why not consider organising a session yourself? The Session Organiser's Manual includes a section entitled 'Good Practice For First Time Session Organisers' and offers other information which will help you through the process of organising a session. The Programme Chair will also be happy to advise.

If you despite all your efforts haven't found a suitable session for your paper and need to fast get it accepted, submit a paper proposal.

The conference organizers will try to find a suitable session for the individually submitted papers.

Before sending us a paper proposal, please read the guidelines for submission of abstracts.

Discussant or Attendee

Registration

Session Organisers will usually approach potential discussants. If you are interested in this role because of your research interests and critical analysis skills, do not hesitate to contact session organisers.

If you do not wish to present a paper, you are still welcome to participate in this conference.
